Lab Clean and Retreat - Finish Line Halo Hot Wax

This service is for the clean and retreat of chains with Halo Hot Wax on 12 speed Shimano or 12speed Sram Red .  Once ordered we will send you an order number and shipping template.  If the chain has been with us before, include the chain number and we will add the data to its record for you.  If you have purchased a volume discount bundle you can use these retreats over a 3month period.

1. Pre Clean and Retreat -If we have had the chain before its unique number is logged into our system allowing analysis of its data passport including its wear and performance.  If new to us the chain is given a unique number and its data passport created to allow performance and wear tracking throughout its life .  Any additional rider supplied info to aid long term analysis is added.  Although not necessarily required this additional data such as distance rode and conditions will help the rider make informed decisions in the future about when he should return the chain for a retreat
   
   
2. Performance Measurement -The chain goes onto the dyno to assess it’s performance in its dirty state.
   
   
3. Cleaning – Multi-stage cleaning, including a minimum of two ultrasonic cleans.  As a lab based clean, we include solvent based ultrasonic cleaning ending with lab pure IPA. Depending on the chains condition it could go straight to the two-stage Ultrasonic Lab clean with solvents ending with lab pure IPA.  If the chain is in a very dirty condition or waxed, it could be given a traditional drive train clean first to remove excess dirt and contamination and/or boiling water/strip.
   
   
4. Precision chain length measurement – measurement of complete chain length with an accuracy of 5microns and repeatability of 10 microns in this cleaned state.  We will advise if wear is excessive at this point
   
   
5. Hot Wax Treatment – hot wax treatment as to the manufacturer’s instructions.
   
   
6. Hand breaking of individual waxed links
   
   
7. Dyno Conditioning and Performance Measurement – After hand-braking the wax links it essential that the chain is run before racing.  The chain is run for 15-20 minutes at 250watts until the performance has started to flatten out and heading towards its maximum efficiency.
   
   
8. Post Clean and Retreat Journey - Data is compiled and the chain is shipped with its data passport showing its performance and wear history.
